I'm Gina. I'm a Marriage and Family Therapist, a lover of coffee, good conversation and California beaches. I'm also someone who cares deeply about relationships and I consider this an integral part of what I bring to the therapy room. I am consistently reminded of the power of connection and vulnerability, both in my personal and professional life. And this pushes me to create balance in my life, to lead from a place of trust, and never stop learning.
I moved to California in 2007 to pursue a degree in Marital and Family Therapy at the University of San Diego. I fell in love with Southern California and knew I would be building my career here. I started as an intern in a palliative care setting, and in the 15 years that followed have worked in a high acuity psychiatric hospital, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient setting, held an adjunct faculty role and have now moved into the outpatient therapy setting where I can bring my expertise to a wider range of clients.
In 2014, I built an evidence-based co-occurring disorders program at a well-established eating disorders treatment center. That program became one of a kind nationwide for the treatment of eating and substance use disorders. Today, I consult with programs all over the country on integrating an effective co-occurring disorders model for patients with both eating and substance use disorders, a specialty I am passionate about and would like to see expand in the years to come.
In my private practice, I aim to empower, to create space for your true self, to allow for hard feelings to come up, to challenge you, and to celebrate milestones with you. I will bring my knowledge and training, but perhaps more importantly, my humanity and compassion to the therapy room as you entrust me with your personal growth and healing,
I am a client-centered, trauma-informed therapist who takes an authentic, collaborative, and direct approach. I believe you inherently know the best path forward and will help you effectively navigate those next steps.
